Clean up, Clean up...

One of my granddaughter’s favourite jingles is “Clean up, Clean up, Everybody Clean up” and she happily sings it while we put away the toys after our play date. It’s a fun way to engage her in the activity and for the two of us to share in the joy of order.

I believe order and comfort are very important aspects of self-care.  I notice when I take time to finish an incomplete project, I feel better and more energized. The energy of procrastination can be very wearing. I find the “shoulds” can get very loud and affect my feelings of success and well-being.

For several months, I would look at a little project on my desk and say “I have to get to this one day...” Today was the day and having completed the task I feel really great!  It took less than an hour. I confess the wasted energy of thinking about getting it done weighed me down more and used much more of my time than completing the task did.

I encourage you to take a look around you and see where the “shoulds”  are affecting your order and comfort. Be honest about the choices you wish to make regarding those incomplete projects. You may discover some of them are really ready to be put aside forever and others are ready to be tackled with joy.

As you give yourself permission to “clean up...” you will discover new levels of energy and delight... Enjoy the moment!

Today I...

Relax in the ease of joy of my life

Take steps to create order

Make healthy loving choices

And so it is...
