I Am Grateful for this
I have the pleasure of meeting with a group of wonderful
women to share our weekly gratitude. Recently, our meeting was
cancelled, so I decided to invite my house guests to sit together
on the designated day and share our gratitude. My 5 ˝ year old
granddaughter joined our circle, sitting in the energy with the
other 4 women in the room.
When I attempted to explain to my granddaughter the
concept of gratitude, I realized I would have to come up with a
word she could relate to... I explained gratitude was how you feel
when you are happy. Armed with this information, she sat
peacefully and said: “I am happy to be here.”
As we all reflected on her response, we realized that
indeed... the simplicity of a child’s wisdom was exactly what many
of us strive for. The ability to be grateful in each moment is the
I find that there are times when my adult mind looks to
make experiences complicated. How does one define gratitude? Can
we release the old ideas of gratitude and simply “Be”...
I was recently asked to provide some guidance regarding
gratitude... what is the menu for the perfect system of
gratitude... I am learning the true meaning of gratitude is to
enjoy the moment and see the experience with eyes of appreciation;
recognize what makes you happy in the moment and to carry that
feeling with you as you experience your life.
